Have the Thunderdogs at your event!
Flyball is a relay race between two teams of four dogs. Racing side by side, one dog from each team must go over four hurdles, trigger a flyball box pedal, catch (retrieve) a ball and then return over all four hurdles to the start/finish line where the next dog eagerly awaits.
Flyball encompasses all things that dogs love to do – jumping, catching, retrieving, competing, and striving to please their owners and it is a sport in which any dog can participate, regardless of breed, shape or size. Besides being great for dogs, flyball is a lot of fun for people too!
Why should you consider a flyball demonstration at your event?
Flyball demonstrations are often held at public mass audience events such as school fetes, animal charity events, local agricultural shows, council fairs and events. Anywhere the pet owning community gathers for a fun day of entertainment. Flyball racing encourages pet owners to participate in organised dog sports. This is a community service as dogs that regularly exercise and socialise are less likely to become a nuisance to the wider community.
Minimum requirements to hold a flyball demonstration?
- 1 x fenced ring area 15 metres wide x 40 metres long on a flat grassed area
- PA system
- Camp area for competitors and dogs to rest between demonstrations.
- Access to 240v power outlet for electronic timing lights (optional)
The Thunderdogs can provide two or three half hour flyball demonstrations throughout a day-long event (depending on program). During the demonstration we will race in our normal format of 4 dogs per team, providing an exciting atmosphere where the crowd can cheer for their favourite dog or team.
